Doncaster Airport
Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield, is the full title of what is the UK's youngest airport, also called by many Robin Hood or Doncaster Airport.
Originally founded for flying in 1936 as RAF Finningley and used both during and after the war as a base for bombers, it closed for military use in the 60's. The RAF's legacy was to leave behind one of the longest runways in the north of England.
After investment of private capital and the building of it's new terminal it was reborn in 2005 as a civilian facility. The complex is 6 miles south east of Doncaster, whilst Sheffield is 18 miles to the west. It is located close to the M18
