Nottingham East Midlands Airport lies between the cities of Nottingham, Leicester and Derby.
The airport was opened in 1965 on a site originally used by the RAF during the War, it struggled initially to survive on passenger traffic alone, but soon found it's feet as a freight gateway. In time passenger numbers grew and a million passengers passed through the facility for the first time in 1985. A year later a £3 million extension to the terminal was opened.
Since then with the advent of budget airlines passenger numbers have continued to grow. The facility caters for holiday and business passengers alike. The terminal houses all the facilities one expects at a modern airport including ATM,s, bureau de change, shops, cafes and a restaurant.
Nottingham East Midlands Airport is situated close to the A42 and junction 24 of the M1 motorway.
