Exeter Airport
The airfield originally opened in 1937 as a civilian facility, with flights by Jersey Airways to the Channel Islands, although a flying club had used the grass field site prior to this.
During the war it was used by the RAF. It wasn't until the 1980's that Exeter Airport really took off as an international airport with long haul flights to Toronto in Canada as well as flights to Mediterranean destinations.
The facility is now the gateway to south-west England's Devon, Cornwall and Somerset with flights to around 40 destinations, especially Europe and North America and handles over 750,000 passengers annually.
Business and tourists travellers alike are catered for, and the complex is now one of the UK's fastest growing airports. It has one terminal building and one runway.
Exeter International is 5 miles to the east of the city near Clyst Honiton off the A30 by junction 29 of the M5.
